Empower Your Mind: How Hypnotherapy can help

I decided to practice hypnotherapy after learning how our thoughts become hardwired into our subconscious.. which is why it can feel so hard to make changes, even when we're aware of our negative patterns, behaviours.
Let me explain...If someone was to say "don't think of pink elephants" what's the first thing you think of...yes, that's right - pink elephants!
So when you're saying to yourself I can't lose weight, I just don't have the willpower to stick to a diet, I'm just no good at exercising, I find it so hard to give up smoking, I'm scared of heights, I'm always going to be a nail biter etc etc - you're reaffirming that belief to yourself..
No matter even though we know how to make the changes, we're programming those thoughts into our subconscious mind...
Remember 88% of our thoughts come from our subconscious - so it's no surprise we unconsciously make decisions from our ingrained belief systems.
Hypnotherapy can help to rewire your thought patterns by making suggestions directly to your subconscious mind and bypassing the minds firewall, as outlined in my other blog entries. This is why hypnotherapy can feel so empowering as it can make it feel so much more easier to make the changes
to empower your mind.
Here I explain how hypnotherapy can help with the following:
Weight Loss/Management & Food Noise
Many people know what to do when it comes to building a healthy lifestyle, but may find it difficult to stick to a routine as they may be subconsciously blocking themselves as they are telling themselves the same stories which become hardwired into our subconscious... " I don't like exercise",I can't stop snacking", " I can't stick to a healthy eating plan", " I have slow metabolism" for example.
It may also be because there is a deeper cause such as low self esteem and not believing we're worthy of achieving our ideal weight or we're wearing a protective layer of weight. These are just a couple of examples. In my hypnotherapy sessions I aim to treat the cause and the symptom to help the client achieve their ideal outcomes.
One of the reasons why the GLP-1 injections have become so popular is because of the reduction of food noise. Hypnotherapy can also offer an alternative way of reducing the preoccupying thoughts around food to help clients move towards positive outcomes.
Quit Smoking/ Vaping & Unwanted habits
Many people struggle with habits they want to break including wanting to give up smoking or vaping as the habit has become so ingrained into our subconscious.
In order for hypnotherapy to be successful, you have to want to make the changes. So if a family member or partner is asking you to give up, then hypnotherapy may not work and may not be the right fit for you.
This is because hypnotherapy isn't a magic trick and you're always in control. As a hypnotherapist we're just helping you to rewire your thought patterns with positive beliefs, visualisations to help you break the habits so you are empowered to make healthier choices and leave feeling confident you can move forward leaving the habit behind.
This also applies to other unwanted habits as well.
Overcoming fears and phobias
Having a phobia or a fear can be really debilitating and prevent an individual from living their life to their full potential. Hypnotherapy helps overcome fears and phobias by using guided relaxation and suggestions to access the subconscious beliefs, fear based patterns and emotional responses. By entering a deeply relaxed state, the client can process old emotional responses, create new positive associations with the feared stimulus, and learn techniques for self-regulation and desensitisation. This allows for gradual exposure and a reduction in fear and anxiety.
Building Self Esteem & Confidence
Self-esteem and confidence can hold people back in many areas of life. This is why in hypnotherapy a personalised consultation is required so we can understand the symptom and the cause.
Through various techniques, hypnotherapy can help build confidence and self esteem by challenging negative thoughts and replacing them with positive affirmations.
Overcoming anxiety & managing stress
Anxiety is on the rise with people and as we all live busy lives these days, many people struggle with managing stress. The process of hypnotherapy helps anxiety and stress management by guiding you into a deeply relaxed, focused state to access and reprogram subconscious thought patterns, replacing anxious responses with calm and positive ones. In a personalised consultation I would help to identify any triggers and work with you to re-frame unhelpful beliefs, and develop healthier coping mechanisms, leading to reduced anxiety, improved stress handling, and greater self-assurance.
Enhancing Sports Performance
Hypnotherapy is not just for overcoming challenges; it can also enhance performance to improve focus and confidence in sports.
Through guided imagery and relaxation techniques, it's possible for individuals to visualise success in competitions and events which can help individuals to remain, calm and focused during events. This can help to give the mental edge to succeed.
